Are you a savvy Canadian consumer?

AskingCanadians is a research community that allows you to share your opinion about numerous leading Canadian brands. Share your input on consumer products and in exchange you will receive your choice of exciting gifts.

Unique reward options

Established in 2005, AskingCanadians allows members to earn their choice of HBC Rewards points, Aeroplan Miles, Petro-Points or Via Rail Preference Points. You can also choose AC points, which can be redeemed for Amazon eGift cards. Members must earn points towards one chosen reward brand, but this can be changed. Points collected can also be used to enter into lucrative prize draws through the AskingCanadians website. If you do not qualify to complete a survey, you will still be entered into a draw to win a “thank you” reward for your time.

Survey redemption

Each survey will alert you to the exact quantity of points (from your chosen reward category) you will receive or if you will be eligible to win a reward for participating in the survey. Most rewards from AskingCanadians take within 2-4 weeks to appear in a users account. The quantity of the reward given from surveys taken depends on two factors: urgency and length of survey. If you decide that you would like to receive an Amazon eGift card, you will need to earn 500 points (the equivalent of $5.00). At the end of each month you will receive an e-statement from Asking Canadians that will showcase your points balance.

Get bonus points for joining

Occasionally HBC or other partners will team up with AskingCanadians to offer bonus points after joining the panel and taking a couple surveys. For instance, HBC will e-mail HBC newsletter subscribers giving new potential survey takers the opportunity to earn 500 bonus HBC points for joining AskingCanadians and completing two surveys with them.

AskingCanadians is open to all Canadians

This survey panel is open to residents of Canada only. No age restriction is needed to become a member, but individuals under the age of 16 must get a parent or legal guardian's permission to join. The amount of surveys varies significantly, and will depend on how often your unique characteristics match with the surveys on hand.

Terrible

March 28, 2024 by Tracey from Canada

In terms of how many surveys you receive, it's not bad but when it comes to redeeming your points (I choose Amazon gift cards), the turn around time is horrendous. Takes almost 2 months and if you inquire about it, you receive NO response from anyone. Don't waste your time.

Used to be good

Rarely receiving the points for surveys I have completed. Sometimes it does not even register that survey was completed. They do not return inquiries. Gave up on them

Invalid Walmart e-certificates

November 29, 2022 by Sharron from Canada

This panel delivers invalid Walmart e-certificates and expects me to contact Walmart Card Services to have it straightened out. Some do not have barcodes and Walmart will not accept them even though there is a gift card number and pin. Years ago they used physical cards, two were not loaded with money. They have done this too often so I quit.

Gone downhill

April 6, 2022 by Jen from Canada

They've made changes over the past year and it's definitely not for the better. The invitation email no longer tells you the points, time required, or expiration of offer. When you are directed to the next page, most surveys disqualify you before you even start. They used to offer 80 courtesy points if you didn't qualify and that then reduced to 40 points. Now even that is gone. You get a message saying they'll decide after 45 days whether or not you qualify to get the courtesy points. Who is going to bother checking that? The points offered for surveys you complete have also decreased. AskingCanadians is now a big waste of time for very little reward.

More than half of awards don't get awarded

March 9, 2022 by JR from Canada

More than half of 'points' earned never get awarded to your selected loyalty program. If you don't believe me, I suggest that you make note of the surveys you complete and see how many of these earned points you will NOT actually receive.

Update.... as dishonest as ever if not even worse. I meticulously log completed surveys and earned points. Currently have unawarded point dating back to November. In December alone, 2 survey still unawarded with a points value of 2140 and 1500 each. And they don't include point values in the notification email thus making it extremely difficult to track points. I am fast approaching 10,000 points that haven't been awarded as of yet.
