Valued Opinions is an online survey panel where members can earn cash and gift cards in exchange for participating in paid surveys and product tests.

Most surveys offer rewards of between $1 and $7 per completion. A minimum account balance of just $10 is needed in order to request a reward.

Joining is Easy

You can register a free Valued Opinions account within minutes - simply enter your name, address, email address and desired password on the registration page. If you prefer, you can link your Facebook account and register using the details stored there.

You’ll be prompted to fill more information in your profile after you’ve registered - and doing so will improve your chances of being eligible for a wide range of surveys.

Complete the Basic Profile, Receive $1.00

After registering with the site, you will be e-mailed an offer to complete your account profile (which takes 6 minutes) in exchange for $1.00. This will help kick-start the number of surveys you will be eligible to complete. After completing the basic profile, you can also complete additional profile information regarding your household, shopping habits, etc. which will help you qualify for even more surveys.

Reward Amounts

Valued Opinions surveys typically reward between $1 and $7, although at times you may be sent unpaid surveys to help with identifying your unique interests. The typical survey takes 15-20 minutes to complete, however the estimated time is always outlined beforehand.

For every survey completion, you will receive "cash" deposited into your account immediately after completing a survey. This can be converted into a wide range of rewards.

Survey Rewards

Your Valued Opinions earnings can be redeemed for the following rewards once a minimum of $10 is collected:

• Magazine subscriptions - 1-year magazine subscriptions to Cosmopolitan, ELLE Decor, Food Network, Magazine Midwest Living, and Women's Health for $15 in rewards.
• Restaurant gift cards - Dominos pizza, Chili's, and Restaurant.com available in $15 or $20 denominations.
• Airline miles - Get 600 Rapid Rewards Points for $15 in rewards, or 825 points for $20.
• Retail gift cards - Options include: Amazon.com, Apple, CVS Pharmacy, Fragrance.net, Macy's, Target, and the Home Depot, each in $20 denominations.
• Pack & Go gift card - this one $25 gift card can be redeemed at a Chevron, Texaco, Airbnb or Southwest.

These rewards apply to USA members, though are very similar in other countries.

Rewards Redemption

Electronic gift vouchers are typically delivered within 24 hours of request. It can take a few weeks for rewards such as magazine subscriptions to take effect and be mailed to your physical address.

More Than Just Surveys!

Valued Opinions offers various types of ways to participate on their panel. Although online surveys are what they primarily offer, you may also be given opportunities to participate in diary studies (which are surveys that span multiple days and involve logging information), and you may be selected to test products from home.

Member Badges

Valued Opinions offers a unique program which involves its more active members collecting "badges" for their level of participation. There are 5 levels that can be achieved with mini tasks that must be completed: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond.

As your badge levels increase, additional achievement points are awarded, which can be found in the Survey History section. These will display as a 'community achievement'. Bear in mind that you can be downgraded to a lower tier badge if you don’t remain active on the website.

Valued Opinions Monthly Red Cross Donations

Every month, Valued Opinions donates $10,000 of its profits to the American Red Cross. By participating in Valued Opinion surveys regularly, you are helping make the lives of those affected by disaster and emergency all over the world, a little bit easier.

Is Valued Opinions Legit or a Scam?

Valued Opinions is a legitimate online survey site that has over 3 million members worldwide and was established in 2004. I was initially pleased with ValuedOpinions and cashed out quite a lot of Amazon vouchers over the years, but the service seems to have gone downhill recently.

I'm increasingly getting surveys that hit an error near the end and I then have to chase VO to get credits restored to my account. To be fair, this mostly works ok, but I have had one case where I spent 1-2 hours filling in a very long two-part survey, only to have it flag an error right at the end. Despite several prompts from me, VO still refuse to credit the promised amount (8 GBP or about 12 USD) and I'm now seriously considering closing my account after the next cash-out.

If there's one thing that really gets my goat then it's people/organisations who don't honour their commitments.

Update Oct 2016 - well, I stuck with them since writing the review in Dec 2015. However, things haven't improved at all, with many more surveys failing with technical errors and they now display their stupid (and misleading) "website unavailable" page whenever you're screened out of a survey (and sometimes when it's completed ok). It just indicates to me that whoever maintains the website software either doesn't care or is totally incompetent; either way, they should hang their heads in shame at this poor excuse for a website.

The help desk is very poor, too - they try to fob you off with thin excuses and even have the temerity to suggest it's the user's fault instead of their poorly constructed website; their attitude is borderline rude and one of the worst I've come across. I will definitely quit this survey panel as soon as I've reached the minimum reward level as I've had enough of this shambles - the final straw was when they failed to record my participation in an insurance comparison survey; no responses to my queries and so that's 20 GBP down the drain. Don't touch 'em with the proverbial 20 foot bargepole i.e. AVOID!

Recently, I have had multiple times in a row where surveys are not suitable or closed and there is no payment for this. This gets me frustrated because knowing the fact I won't be paid anything because of one of the two reasons kills me the most. Also, on the home page after you log in to your account, when you try and find a new survey, there are no surveys available. And when there is a survey, it is one that has closed ages before! How is it my fault that I didn't get to the survey sooner? I have to do other things in life + you keep saying that there are no surveys available? HOW IS THIS MY FAULT!? It is honestly stupid and wastes your time by asking a few questions and then closing the door really hard in your face, not getting any payment in that same moment and getting away with the answers I gave. YOU SHOULD PAY YOUR MEMBERS THE FULL AMOUNT ANYWAY IF THE SURVEY IS NOT SUITABLE OR CLOSED! I TOOK THE TIME AND EFFORT TO GET ONTO THE SURVEY SO I FEEL THAT I AM ELIGIBLE FOR FULL PAYMENT FROM THAT PARTICULAR SURVEY! This site does not care about opinions at all. They only care about factual information! I just want to be done with this site as soon as I get another Amazon e gift card payout because this is unacceptable! I'm a person who gets angry a lot and I can definitely say that this is not worth your anger! You are better off buying Amazon cards from shops in your area! You are literally made fools of and being treated like simpletons when you don't get paid! The slogan 'Rewarding time' isn't exactly true in conclusion!

I don't normally let loose on a survey site but in this case i'm going to put this one in the same basket as GTM as a joke of a site. Being a member since 2008 I never had any issues until the site was "updated" late last year. Since then every time a survey was sent if it did not go to the star rating page at the end then you did not receive any credit for completing it. This happened to me over 30 times in March alone. After contacting support they told me that they never received the responses at their end! Once or twice maybe but over 30? They eventually gave me $4 as compensation. Then since I complained via facebook to their support on April 20 I have not received any surveys at all. I guess that must be my punishment for complaining. My account is still active and I can log in but there are never any surveys listed nor invitations sent any more.

I left this panel a year ago and it was one of the loveliest things I have done in me life.

Why? Couple of reasons.

On the UK site, they changed their redemption threshold to be slightly more than what you can actually redeem. For example, to redeem a £10 voucher, you need to have earned £10.50. Since voucher amounts are in multiples of 100 and each survey reward is always a multiple of 25, THEY WILL ALWAYS OWE YOU MONEY!

Each time you redeem, you will NEVER be able to redeem everything you have earned. This is plain robbery. They owe me money after my last cash out, but their response rate to correspondence is soo slow that contacting them about it is fruitless. If they owe 1,000 of people 50p (for instance), that is £500 in total they owe to their members!

Also, half way through a survey, you sometimes get screened out and this has happened more and more over the years. It get's to a point where you had enough. I've patted myself on the back for leaving them!
