American Consumer Opinion, also known as ACOP, is a research powerhouse. They have paid out $35 million dollars in rewards to 7 million members worldwide who have taken over 20 million surveys.

The American Consumer Opinion panel was originally created by Decision Analyst in early 1986. Decision Analyst is a member of the BBB and holds memberships with many prestigious marketing associations.

Join to Take Surveys and More

Take paid surveys and participate in product tests and focus groups with American Consumer Opinion. Join the site by navigating to the ACOP website and become a member by creating an account using your Facebook, Google, or Apple account, or simply your email address.

Once you have entered a few personal details, you will be sent a confirmation email to the email address you registered. After you’ve completed this, you will be transferred back to the American Consumer Opinion dashboard and you will see a list of surveys you’ll be eligible to take.

Participate to Earn Rewards

Every survey you see listed on ACOP's website will show the number of points you can earn for completing it. You can either log in regularly to the website to check for new survey opportunities, or opt in to receive emails whenever a new survey becomes available. Alternatively, you may provide your cell phone number in order to be notified by text when a new paid survey becomes available.

Once you've participated in just $10 (1000 points) worth of online surveys, you can redeem your points for a cash reward or a gift card of your choosing.

Rack up Points

Each time you take a survey, you will earn points for your opinions. Screener surveys (short surveys) are worth between 5 – 50 points, or an entry into a monthly draw, and are 20 questions or less. Longer surveys offer points ranging from 100 – 5,000.

Great Reward Options

As a panelist of ACOP, you must have a 1,000 point minimum balance ($10 worth) to redeem your points. Once you have reached this minimum, you may redeem your balance for the following options:

• PayPal: For most countries, use PayPal to cash out your earnings in a simple and easy manner. If you decide to use PayPal as your cash out option, make sure your PayPal email matches the email you used to sign up with American Consumer Opinion.

• Hyperwallet: Like PayPal, Hyperwallet is a user-friendly payment platform that operates in 170+ countries. Allow 8-12 weeks for payment and receive a confirmation email once your money is available.

• Sweepstakes Cash Out: Use your points toward sweepstakes entries that give you a chance to win a variety of lucrative prizes. (Note that once a sweepstakes has been entered using your points, you do not get your points back, even if you are not selected as a winner).

• Charity Donations: Choose to donate your money to a variety of credible charities.

American Consumer Opinion Surveys

ACOP offers online surveys to its members that are interesting and quick, with the average survey taking approximately 10 minutes to complete.

In addition to online surveys, participate in other research opportunities such as product testing, focus groups, and judging the newest advertising campaigns. You can expect to receive invitations for participation from American Consumer Opinion several times a year.

Household Surveys

A few times a year ACOP sends out a survey that pertains to each household. The survey asks what products and services you use on a day-to-day basis. If you participate in this survey, you will be more likely to receive additional future survey invitations, which can translate into earning more points!

Prize Draws

If you attempt to complete a survey but are prevented from doing so (i.e., you are disqualified), you will automatically receive an entry into the Monthly Screener Drawing. Prizes can vary, though they typically consist of $100 Amazon gift cards. Winners lists are published monthly and are accessible directly from your ACOP account dashboard. In any given month, $500 worth of prizes is usually awarded.

Is ACOP Legit?

American Consumer Opinion is not a scam and is a legitimate online survey panel run by Decision Analyst - a credible market research firm. The ACOP website has been online for more than 20 years and with millions of survey takers worldwide, BBB accreditation and over $35 million in payments issued to members, ACOP is a safe and legit survey site.

Although some users may have varying levels of success with the website (i.e. users outside of Western nations may not be invited very often to complete surveys), it doesn't mean that the panel itself is illegitimate. American Consumer Opinion is available in 11 different languages in over 200 countries.

I joined American Consumer Opinion about a year ago. I get about two to five surveys per month on average, and even when I don't qualify, my account is usually credited anywhere from 5 to 25 points for my time. Sometimes they also send "screeners", which are very short surveys that are used to determine whether you qualify for the full survey, and I've gotten up to 50 points just for these, even if I'm not qualified for the survey. Basically, ACO is a survey panel that pays you for your time, even if you are disqualified, which is refreshing. Survey takers need 1000 points to request payment, and this can be reached quite easily even without qualifying for many surveys over the course of a year.

I requested payment from them in late January for the 1025 points ($10.25) I had acquired over the last year. After waiting about a week, I checked Survey Police and was taken aback by all of the negative reviews. I basically wrote off ACO and figured I wouldn't receive my payment, and stopped taking surveys from them in the meantime. My plan was to wait until about 6 to 8 weeks after requesting payment, contact customer service, raise a stink, and depending on their answer, review them here and delete my account.

About a week after checking this website, in early February (two weeks after requesting a check), I received my payment for $10.25. I was pleasantly surprised and immediately started taking their surveys again. Long story short, I have not had a negative experience at all with ACO despite the numerous claims to the contrary from the other reviews here.

In summary, if you are looking to join a panel that will take up minimal time (surveys are usually short) and will pay you just to see if you qualify, I would recommend ACO. $10.25 over the course of a year is low, yes, but my time spent on surveys in that time was also low; so much so that when I could request payout, I was a little surprised I had reached it already.

On a last note, I don't discount those reviews from people saying they haven't been paid or have been waiting awhile. I simply wanted to add my experience, because it has been good. Potential consumers have the right to know both good experiences and bad and make their decisions accordingly.

Have been a member for a long time. Havn't seen any surveys for months. I know I have cash in their system, but can't even log in any longer.

Keep sending me surveys which looks like one but it is to see if I can do a survey - extremely odd as it's the same one all the time. Had a real one about ONCE in ONE YEAR.
Someone else said they are on the edge of going under & either don't pay without huge fuss or take months to do so, so think I will delete it
ADVICE? Keep away altogether.

Thanks to helpful reviews here, I came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth continuing with ACOP, so I deleted my account just now. I had been wondering if they changed hands, since the emails allegedly from Anne Parks no longer sound like they are written by the same person. I got my answer here in the reviews.
I used to love the site, but now as others have posted, it takes too long to receive credit, plus then it only goes to Pending and you have to wait again. They argued with me repeatedly over a 15 point screener last month, and that was the last straw for me. I copied and sent them the exact survey number and words that appeared saying I would receive credit at the end of the screener, yet they still accused me of not giving them the correct number, since their system didn't show I had taken that survey. I tried to explain to them THAT was the problem--they have a faulty system. They wouldn't even manually add the 15 cents, and this was the first time I had complained about something, so it should be obvious I am not someone who is trying to scam them out of money I didn't deserve.
I only had 40 points, and even with the pending points, I'm only losing about $2 by cutting my losses. It would take too long to earn the required 1000 before cashout, and in the meantime they could close my account like they did with others, and all of my time would have been wasted. There's no shortage of other surveys for me to take, so now I can concentrate more on the honest companies where my time is compensated fairly.

I can tell you why they will not pay you in a timely fashion, the company (Decision Analyst) is on the verge of bankruptcy and simply does not have the money to pay panel members.

Avoid this panel, you will only get paid if you you make a huge fuss. They are hoping you will give up and go away.
