Payment and Rewards

Prolific Offers Fair Rewards!

Prolific promises that you won't get kicked out of surveys and you'll earn cash for your efforts - never points. Any rewards you gain to receive for your participation will be clearly outlined before participating in the study or survey. Prolific believes that everyone's time is valuable and asks researchers to reward participants with at least $6.50 per hour.

Get Paid Directly to Your PayPal Account

Prolific pays out in Sterling GBP and pays its panelists via PayPal. Ensure that the email you sign up with is the same email used for your PayPal account. You may request payment of your Rewards at any time, provided you have accumulated at least £5.00. If you're outside of the UK, you will still receive payments in GBP, but you can easily convert this into your local currency via your PayPal account.

Users who have unverified PayPal accounts do not generally appear to experience problems receiving their payments from Prolific; it appears that they issue payments to both verified and unverified PayPal payments alike.

Reasonable Approval Times

Survey submissions are reviewed by researchers before study rewards are credited to your account. This can take a few days, but you will not wait longer than 22 days to see your credit. Wait times for receiving Paypal payments after requesting them are no longer than a few days.

Community Features

Prolific is Socially Conscious

You can donate your rewards to charity! Help science and do good at the same time.

Although their registration page allows users worldwide who are 18+ to register with the site, many users outside of certain countries will receive a message on their dashboard that says that Prolific doesn't support the country they live in.

There are over 30 OECD countries that Prolific actually accepts members from. These include the UK, USA, CA, AU, IT, PL, CZ, among others.

Back to normal

August 17, 2022 by Fraser from United Kingdom

Easy to use and all surveys that show up on the dashboard are accessible so there's no screened out time wasting like with all the other survey websites. Fast payment to paypal.

Have to be logged in to see the surveys there's rarely an email alert that is the only downside.

Update: Starting to slide now. Support is slow if any problems, surveys filling up faster than a human can click and low paying surveys sneaking through.

Update: It appears there are now a lot more users than surveys so it is impossible to actually take part now. Support are very very slow. I would NOT recommend now.

Update: Moved back to 4 stars. Everything back to normal with regular surveys but support is still slow.

Closes accounts for no reason

They closed my account saying there automatic checks failed to confirm who I was and a manual review failed to confirm who I was after over a month of participating on the website refuse to give me any information of what caused me to fail their automatic checks and manual review I believe that the service is a sham at this point because they can't give me any information.

#1 & completely unique

Do you REALLY want to make a difference. Most of these are for REAL scientific studies for the actual data, that affects how they look at mental health or helps scientists find out more precise about the process of thinking that a human goes through in certain situations. Others are for college seniors' studies, etc. NONE of the surveys are about products like anywhere else. They ALL are psychology, sociology, etc related. they are ALL TIMED, though usually having plenty extra. Their profile surveys are VERY VERY detailed & in-depth, however, unless you run over the time (seldom happens), or unless you lie on the profile answers, then give a contradicting response for same question in a study, you probably will get dq'd less than 1x for every 100 surveys!!! I have cashed out more here than ANY where else. Also, after you show youre a loyal member, & have a couple cashouts to paypal, from then on your cashouts are INSTANT.

Absolutely Extraordinary

Prolific is unlike anything else out there. And as someone who takes surveys as a way of making money quite seriously, let me tell you I have joined just about ever website out there, but once I was accepted into prolific, a total game changer!
With a few exceptions, most of the studies are interesting if not fun to take. And these aren't your average surveys asking you your opinion on this product or that product, Prolific host "studies" that are used in scientific studies and more! So your actually contributing to further development in science, technology, etc.
There's a wait list but I definitely recommend you go ahead and sign up because once your in you won't be able to stand any other site (except maybe paid viewpoint like me)
The only reason I rated 4.5 out of 5 is because I see a lot of post around the Internet of people saying they we're banned without warning and without any explanation but there is a blog post that they describe reasons a member might be booted out, and I feel like there's more to the story then these people who get kicked let on. For instance you can only have so many rejections. If your responses are rejected by a survey givers then that means you failed to answer an attention check correctly or you gave no effort whatsoever (writing a couple words when you're supposed to write a paragraph for example) so if you just try and fly through these studies and get rejected to many times, your gonna be casted out.

Hacked Off

May 19, 2022 by John from United Kingdom

I had been a member of Prolific for almost a year and managed to complete many of their surveys, finding them very interesting and some of them extremely challenging. I earned a reasonable amount of cash, generally a good deal better than your average survey sites, many of which I also belong to. But one morning I couldn't log in to the site and got a message saying 'Account on hold.' I couldn't understand what I had done to get this kind of treatment. When I attempted to find out why this was done to me, I was told that I could not continue with my membership, they would not tell me why, and I wouldn't be able to cash out the £68 I had remaining on the account. I find this rather cavalier attitude somewhat insulting, considering the length of time I have been a member of Prolific. It seems they can get away with this treatment because they can hide behind the internet and wouldn't get away with this attitude if I was working in the 'real world'. As a result, I wouldn't recommend this site if that is how they treat their members. They should remember that a site such as this is only as good as those who sign up to do their surveys. So, be warned. I am still attempting to discover what I had done wrong and an apology of some sort would be nice, but I doubt i will receive one. Anyone out there had any similar treatment from Prolific? I would love to know.
