Survey Taking Experience

Survey Lengths

The length of each online survey varies, but most are between 5-15 minutes long. Surveys are rarely longer than 20 minutes, as this is considered a maximum. YouGov offers paid surveys quite frequently compared to other similar sites. You will receive an email every time a new survey is available. It can be different from country to country, but on average you can expect 5-7 surveys a week.

A big plus for YouGov is that they almost never send you a link to a survey that you then do not qualify for. If you are screened out, you are likely to be matched with another survey.

Survey Topics

As with any paid survey site, YouGov's survey topics can vary, however most of the time, they are politically focused. YouGov's surveys and polling results are frequently published in the media.

See the Opinions of Others, Too!

YouGov offers the chance for you to see what your answers in surveys are used for. Around once a month, they send out a newsletter, where they link to some of the national and international stories where their survey results have been quoted. You can also find this information on their website if you choose not receive their newsletters. Find out where your opinions stand in relation to the greater YouGov community!

Political stuff mainly

May 14, 2012 by Paul from United Kingdom

Definitely a popular one and a good one overall but I think at the end, they don't reward so much. Ok, getting £50 is a lot but you need to fill in lots of survey and they are all quite long so not sure at the end if the ratio £/time spent is that good. Still a relevant paid surveys website though!

Great if you enjoy political surveys, but probably not worth the effort otherwise

March 18, 2012 by Tommy from United States

I signed up for this panel because they do political surveys as well as regular surveys, so I enjoy almost all of their surveys. But you have to really enjoy them to spend any amount of time on this. It takes 30-35 surveys to earn enough points for a simple t-shirt. I'm saving up 100,000 points to get a $100 Visa gift card, but it's taken about three years and I still have probably 20 more surveys to take before I can get there, and I've gotten close only with the help of a web monitoring plug-in program that gave me 10,000 points. Their surveys are always pretty short, 10-15 minutes, and the surveys get political a couple times a month. So if you like political surveys, definitely sign up. If not, probably shouldn't waste your time.

I signed up in May 2007 back when it was called PollingPoint. I finally redeemed the $100 reward in December 2011. That took about 180 surveys spanning over four years. There's the usual daily shopping or celebrity polls which I'm not fond of but still complete it but once in a while they'll do the political, health, or technology related polls which I do like.
