App Details

Data passed through the app may include mobile web browsing activity, usage and titles of downloaded applications and files as well as usage of cameras, video streaming and other utilities on the mobile device. The software may also collect information regarding the web pages you view, the links you access, and usage times for certain device activities (e.g., text messaging, call lengths, and web browsing).

The app requires less than 100KB of memory to store the research software and 128KB to store the collected data before it is encrypted and securely sent to the MobileXpression servers. It should not have any affect on your phone's performance.

Run the App Without Interference

The MobileXpression app runs in the background on your devices and should not interfere with your phone or tablet. The app's main purpose is to collect data on internet surfing habits.

Take the Occasional Survey

Panel members of MobileXpression may be invited periodically to take mobile surveys to help with better understanding some of the rationale behind internet mobile surfing trends.

Is Mobile Expression Safe?

MobileXpression is a safe app to download to your devices. It runs in the background and its access to what's on your phone is very limited (as per below). The app should not interfere with regular usage of your phone, however as it does act as a VPN, some users have reported connectivity issues with their devices after downloading the MobileExpression app. These issues seem to resolve after uninstalling the app, so although the app appears safe to use, as with many apps, your success using it may vary.

Privacy is Important

Mobile express takes the privacy of their panel members very seriously. Other phone activities such as calls, text messages, photos or contacts are not accessed by the application. In addition, all of the information is pooled into anonymous data storage, so the webpages you access will never be linked back to your profile.

Wonderful, Sudden Account Locking, then Reinstated

I have been a member of Mobile Xpression Panel for several months, maybe even a year, until yesterday. I accepted my 5 point credit for the week, saw that I had 50 points, and immediately redeemed them for a $10 Amazon gift card, which is always what I select. Immediately, I was taken to a screen that says my account has been locked. I checked my email to see if I had any communication as to why and whether my reward had come through. The answer to both questions was no, so I contacted customer support using both email addresses provided. I clearly explained that sometimes I need to turn off the VPN as it causes a few of my apps to be unusable. So, I turn the VPN off, do what I need to do, then immediately turn the VPN back on. If that's a violation of the terms of service, then that is why. However, it would have been nice if they had clearly explained why my account is locked/banned instead of leaving me to ponder on it and guess. It took about 16 hours for someone to get back to me. The message said that based on my activity and participation, I was not eligible for the reward I tried to redeem and that the decision to lock my account had been made. It's not clear whether I am still a member of the panel, my account is temporarily or permanently locked, or exactly what that means. So, after earning about $100 in rewards, my relationship with Mobile Xpression Panel looked like it was over.

This afternoon, I got an email from them saying that they were sorry that my account got flagged in error, my reward link was included, and all was back to normal. Customer service was quick. I'm not sure whether the BBB complaint or my kind, patient wording of my email to them was the key, but I am glad that I can continue earning through them.

USE WITH CAUTION / LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE

I've also had problems getting my earned incentive fulfilled; happened in February, 2019 as well as October, 2020. Each time they locked my account.
Both times I emailed and both times I received a stock answer explaining how I should reinstall the app. When I requested specifics, they just told me it was a security issue.
I inquired as to how there could be a security issue when I'm the only one who uses the phone and the account and, since it's based on passive usage of the one phone, how could I *possibly* circumvent the system?
I ended up cancelling the account because it's simply not worth the $10 Amazon card I earned every two months. (I waited to earn the 15 points necessary for the $10 card vs. 10 for each $5 reward - I believe the way rewards are earned is different in Canada vs. the U.S.)
Considering the amount of data they get from each member, the incentives offered, and their treatment of the members, their behaviour is a crime.

Slow but steady

They at least reward you 5 points a week for having this on your phone. You can change in when you reach 35 or 50 points, so you can do the math on how many weeks it takes. I don't mind it because I wait until it reaches 50 and get an Amazon gift card that is super easy redeemable and I use it to buy my craft supplies.

Account canceled one day after getting redeemable credits!

After I finally earned 30 credits yesterday (by installing an app on my cell phone for 6 whole weeks) and redeemed it for a gift card, they then decided to "flag" my account shortly afterwards and deny me my hard-earned reward.

The next day (7-28-2020), I wrote them about their unjust practices and here's their pathetic reply:

"Thanks for contacting us.
At this point we can confirm that your order was flagged and canceled by our security program. After further reviewing your account, we can confirm that you did not fulfill the necessary participation requirements needed to qualify for the incentive. Unfortunately based on your account not meeting the standards of activity and participation, we have canceled your order.

We understand your frustration regarding this matter, however our decision to cancel your order and lock your account has been made.

After having been with them for some time, they sent an e mail accusing me of fraudulent activity. They would not specify what. I am a 62 year old disabled granny not a criminal mastermind.
