YouGov, Branded Surveys

In February, 2022, Populuslive rebranded itself as Y Live.

Y Live, part of Populus Limited, based in the UK, is a popular market research company. The panel was established in 2003 with a presence that has grown to 75 countries worldwide. The panel does research in the business, culture and politics sectors. Joining the community is simple - start by filling out a short and simple registration form.

Payment and Rewards

Earn £1.00 for Every 5 Minutes

Y Live gives its members the opportunity to earn £1.00 for every 5 minutes they spend on a survey. Depending on the length, most surveys pay between 1 to 3 points each (1 point = £1.00) and take usually about 5 to 15 minutes to finish. Please note that rewards will only be credited to your account once the survey is closed. This could range from one day to three months, depending on the research and nature of the study.

Cash in at £50.00

Once you have accumulated 50 points (£50.00) you are eligible to request a cheque or a BACS payment at the next payment date. The payment date is at the end of each month and if you requested a cheque, it will arrive within two weeks after this date. BACS payments typically take a few days to arrive. On average, Y Live issues 3000 monthly cheques to members who have reached the threshold for payment.

Each time you screen out of a survey - which may happen if you do not meet the required participant profile, you will be automatically entered into the monthly prize draw of £250. The draw will take place on the second Monday of each calendar month and winners are notified within 4 weeks of the draw taking place.

you can spend a lot of time and then get screened out

June 10, 2026 by Chris from United Kingdom

Their rewards if you get they are good, but they ask the same questions over and over before telling you you are not suitable.
As they already have that info I don't understand why they keep wasting your time with surveys they already know you will be kicked off.
They don't pay for all the surveys you can spend half an hour on a survey and if they don't like your opinions they don't pay you.
You also have to earn £50 before they will payout, so expect to wait a long time for your reward.

Swindlers

July 31, 2025 by Gemma from United Kingdom

I thought it was bad enough having to fill out loads of the same old questions every single time I started one of their surveys; only to be constantly screened out. But they are now getting worse! Just now, I must have almost competed the whole of their latest survey, (Including all their numerous stupid 'Check' Questions at the beginning) when I was screened out yet again! At the very least I think I should have received half of their not very generous reward anyway! But to have wasted all that time for nothing just about takes the biscuit!

Mostly OK

May 5, 2025 by Jennifer from United Kingdom

When it was PopulusLive this survey company was flawless. Plenty of invitations arrived, timings were accurate and e mails were promptly responded to.
Now YLive, it feels a little less professional, timings of surveys are usually underestimates, a simple typo right at the end of a long survey, often a reiteration of a question put in a different way, will see you being screened out with no comeback. Responses to queries are far from timely and I seem to receive far fewer invitations, many of which I apparently dont qualify for even if I have answered 30 questions and given my time. There should I think be some small payment if a significant part of a survey has already been completed. All that said the surveys are often interesting and engaging and it is very nice when one reaches the magic £50. Great that is paid direct to the bank too.

Chunky rewards for interesting research

October 9, 2024 by Monika from United Kingdom

The research projects with Y Live tend to arrive every few days and the rewards are usually between £1-3 (or even £4), however, the questionnaires are long and it is common to spend a few minutes answering questions only to be ruled out without any reward at all. However, I've opted to remain a member for several years as the rewards do add up and every 4-5 months or so I achieve the required £50 to cash out. The research projects are generally more interesting than many other survey sites, typically involving political and societal issues, and to that end I often feel like taking part in these surveys is satisfying and important. The only reason for not giving Y Live a full 5 stars is the amount of time that it can often take to be ruled out of the research. On any other site with smaller payouts I would have stopped taking the research, however, as mentioned before the rewards outweigh this negative feature.
